Social Media Day might be over for 2012, but that doesn’t mean that we have to stop being social or even using this blog. We want to provide Tampa businesses the opportunity to talk about their Social Media successes, campaigns and upcoming promotions.

Social Media Day Awesomeness in Tampa

What a day Social Media Day was. Neither Ryan or I really knew what to expect. It was going to be hot, the tech and social communities rarely meet outdoors and there was SO much going on, including St. Pete Pride and the Def Leopard/ Poison concert. We had no idea who would attend nor the number of people that would actually be interested in an outdoors Social Media event. To sum it up the day was sweaty, fun, breezy, and social!

With over 100 people attending the 4 hour event at Cotanchobee Park, visitors and guests enjoyed playing games, listening to tunes and having fun on a more personal level. We want to give a shout out to all of our sponsors that helped make the day the success it was, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You are the reason we were able to do all of the things we did.

After the event we headed to Macdintons. Cyndee Haydon and her husband Jack of Sandbars to Sunsets generously sponsored appetizers for the hungry, sunburned and semi-dehydrated Social Media attendees. The food was delicious, the conversation was stimulating and someone even brought a breathalizer – only on Social Media Day would ALL of this have happened!

How Your Business Can Get Involved In Tampa’s Social Media Day

We’re getting very close to Social Media Day here in Tampa (and around the world) and we wanted to make sure that we’ve given businesses and enthusiasts everything they need to take part in this awesome event.

This year we are doing a family-fun, carnival-style event to be held at Cotanchobee Park behind the Forum downtown. We are so excited and can’t wait for the day filled with fun and awesomeness.

How your business can get involved

We are asking that any businesses looking to get involved create and host a carnival-style game (with prizes suitable for all ages). On these games we encourage the businesses to promote their Social Media platforms. They can paint their Twitter handle on the game, post the URL to their website or even create banners that have QR codes leading people to like and follow.

What do you mean by “Carnival-style”?

Remember going to your school picnics or fairs and they had those sort of makeshift games…. That’s what we mean. We’re not asking anyone to go out and spend thousands on creating or buying a game, we are however encouraging creativity. For inspiration I would suggest using the Internet and Social Media.

You could:

Ask your connections what their favorite game used to be or is.
Search for “Carnival Games” on Pinterest or Google for inspiration

Remember to get creative!

We are excited to announce that Social Media Day Tampa will be held at Cotanchobee Park!

The event will begin at 2:00 pm and will include carnival-style games for kids as well as adults sponsored by local businesses, food trucks and great networking opportunities.
